A lot been said about Frankfurt's poor home form. But I think they have foregone league position to focus on the Europa. And when you look at their group and knock-out results they haven't lost at home(drawn quiet a few).

And in the knock out stages away wins against Real Betis & Barcelona were paired with draws at home. It's down to us to buck the trend/stats of draws for their home leg.

We have every reason to go to Frankfurt with optimism. I think we'll get the job done.

EF played out of their skins against us at the LS and we were poor. We've learnt more about them through our awful 1st leg performance than they did about us.

Also, don't forget what Dec said about the Lyon game. "We learned a lot about Lyon from the 1st leg, and knew what their weaknesses were and where to attack".

I was watching Hammers chat preview of the game earlier and Gonzo made a fucking good point that I didn't even think of.
The bundesloga is a closed club, Bayern will always won it with a few teams such as Dortmund trying to make it interesting. Frankfurt are 9th, won't go down, won't win the league etc hence why they are so good In Europe. Hopefully we can get the job done tommorow as this really will be our best chance in years to get somewhere.

Apart from the one goal deficit this is no different to Lyon........... we score first it's game on. Lets see how the sausage munching, soap avoiding square heads game manage that?

For some reason I’m not feeling good about this and feel a bit flat. Maybe it’s the nerves jangling. Frankfurt were the better team in most spaces in the first leg and unlike others in the earlier rounds seemed to know how to play against us right from the start.
I’m hoping an early goal and extra time could tip it our way but if we concede I think we are doomed they will shut up shop.
1-4 to West Ham!! Hahahaha! COYI!

We’ll left ourselves a mountain to climb here, but luckily for us we love mountain climbing.

The fact is I’d rather go into this game as the underdog. We love giving the favourites a nasty shock.

Better not pin this to the top, we know what happened last time.

I’m going to stop second guessing what’s going to happen with us now. They keep surprising, then disappointing me. I’m just going to watch the fucking match in the same way I watch every single game we play in, regardless of form or whatever - always start the game with that nervous optimism in the pit of my stomach. Come on you fucking Irons.

Finally Charley - what took you so long?!

If Real Madrid can win 3-1 after having zero shots on target in 90 minutes then anything is possible.

Our boys seem to enjoy these Europa 2nd legs, so more of the same please. It would also be nice for the younger generation to experience some proper success.

Who’s your money on being the hero this time? Ballon D’orson again perhaps?

I have a feeling in my waters that we'll win 3-1. Bowen, Antonio and Soucek.

Re: ⚽ Eintracht v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Unfortunately we will not be allowed the space we got against Lyon as Frankfurt will again put plenty behind the ball and are very good at pressing. We have yet to really succeed at getting thru or around packed midfields since we do not possess / movement or controlled passing the pace as a team.

They can sit back and counter themselves.

I see set pieces as our only real option but we got to get and keep the ball. We have not really been very good at that over the last 2 years. Playing a possession game at too slow a tempo will likely not work. So we will need to make the very best of any free kicks or corners we do get IMHO

Moyes West Ham always put in 100% so there’s always a chance but everything needs to go our way. Someone should remove the 50p pieces from the toes of Antonio’s boots for starters :-) and Benrahma needs some end product.

The official Frankfurt 'Ultras' website has put out a request on their website for all their lot to wear white shirts to the game.

No mention whether they should bring balaclavas too at this point.

I'm in Darlington tonight and have a site meeting tomorrow before absolutely whamming it down the A1 tomorrow as soon as I finish.

No sign of any barrage balloons up here btw.

Sir Alf I too believe Benrahma dribbling skills could be a factor. I was looking at a number of Frankfort games and I noticed that they can get undone by a player of his abilities.

The countdown is on, this time tomoorow it will all have been done and dusted, just hope im on here buzzing about it.

Do think we have a real chance and can turn a good season into a great season with getting to the final of a major competition, if we then win the final it would have to go down and one of the best seasons ever.

Need to get past Frankfurt first, COYI

Charley, ted, all..

I would be a lot more confident if this was a stand alone game (2-2 first leg) as it is we are now chasing and that's not good. My feel is the same as it was after last week which is we fucked up and think this will be the end of the road for us. One hope I have is I'm still not sure if anyone knows if this Frankfurt side is any good or not. If we turn up and play well and get that bit of luck you need, of course we can do it, but all being even think we are going home. Hope I'm wrong.

Takashi Miike 7:59 Thu May 5
Re: ⚽ Eintracht v West Ham - Official Match Thread
It is a stand alone game, and for us it's clear what we have to do. for them, they're stuck between sticking or twisting with a ground full of mugs thinking the job's already done. as I said before, we've beaten far better teams in previous rounds so I remain confident we'll turn these cunts over. moyes 86 year old dad will be there tonight with his other son, here's hoping the boys put on a show and make history

Manuel 8:12 Thu May 5
Re: ⚽ Eintracht v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Don't wish to get into a tit for tat, but it's not a stand alone game, a stand alone games starts with both sides level.

Re: ⚽ Eintracht v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Id be more confident if Johnson's at LB . As teams are targeting cresswells lack of pace and with BJ there It frees up fornals to play in his proper position as he did v Lyon in the 2nd leg .
